What is the Lightning Process?

The Phil Parker Lightning Process® (LP) is a practical training programme not a therapy, not a talking cure, not a medication. It teaches you a set of skills that use the connection between your brain and body to influence your own health.

Using gentle movement, mental exercises, and meditation-like techniques, you learn how to shift the patterns your nervous system has got stuck in – switching on pathways that promote health, and interrupting ones that are keeping you unwell.

It sounds simple. The science behind it is anything but.

Why your body gets stuck and how the LP helps

When you’ve been ill for a long time, your nervous system has often learned to stay in a state of high alert. This is your body’s Physical Emergency Response (PER) – the same “fight or flight” system designed to protect you from short-term threats.

The problem is that when this response stays switched on for months or years – triggered by illness, stress, or life events – it causes real biological damage that builds up over time. Researchers call this allostatic load. It disrupts sleep, immunity, healing, and energy. It’s not in your head. It’s measurable. And it’s changeable.

The LP works by teaching your brain to interrupt this response and build new, healthier neurological pathways. This is neuroplasticity in action – your brain’s remarkable ability to rewire itself through new patterns of thought and behaviour.

Is it backed by research?

Yes. There are 18 peer-reviewed papers published over 27 years, including an NHS & University of Bristol Randomised Controlled Trial – the gold standard of medical research – which found the LP to be effective and safe.

How it works

I teach the Lightning Process over three consecutive half-days either in-person or online over Zoom (typically in small group sessions or tailored one-to-one work). You’ll be guided through:

  • How and why your recovery stalled and, importantly, what you can do to resolve this.

  • How to identify and interrupt unconscious patterns that are keeping you stuck

  • How to build new neurological pathways that promote health and healing instead

  • Reinforcing these new neurological pathways to ensure these stick.

The tools of the Lightning Process involve gentle movement, mediation-like techniques and mental exercises. 

By putting these tools into practice, you’re able to change the way your nervous system responds to stimulus; switching on new neural pathways which stimulate better physiology, so you can reset your body’s innate healing systems.

How the Programme Works

There are 4 stages to taking the Lightning Process® training programme.

STEP 1: Home study audio

Your first step is listening to Part 1 of the Lightning Process®, an interactive home study audio (around 4 hours). It covers the science, helps you spot when your nervous system is working against you, and — most importantly — helps you decide whether this approach feels right for you.

It’s the beginning of understanding what’s been happening in your body, and what’s possible.

STEP 2: Apply

Complete the online application form; then book your 1:1 onboarding coaching call with Liz. This Zoom call is designed to ensure the training is the right fit for you.

STEP 3: The Training

Attend the 3-day live seminar where you will learn the skills of the LP & start putting them into practice with the support of your expert coach.

  • Live training workshop delivered over 3 consecutive days (4-5 hours per day)

  • Small group training capped at 5 people (or one-to-one available on request)

  • Comprehensive course manual and training materials

  • Personalised coaching support and real-time feedback so you don’t feel confused or alone

STEP 4: Follow-Up Coaching

Receive ongoing support and 3 hours of follow-up coaching calls to keep you on track as you apply the amazing tools in your own life.

  • Your fee includes three months of continued support as you implement skills in your daily life

  • Three-hours follow up coaching with Liz to support your changes

  • Seven-part Graduate Audio Program

In 2017 I contracted a virus which led to chronic fatigue. I was left house bound, had to quit my job in fashion design and spent the next 9 months trying everything I could to recover.
